With ears still ringing fresh off the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA, it’s time to look back at a few of the highlights.
To start, here’s a look at some of the amazing musicians who set up next to our Mighty Bright booth in Hall E at the Henriksen Amplifiers booth (not bad neighbors by any means).
Later, we were honored to have Leeland Sklar stop by, perhaps one of the most renowned session bassists in the world, having appeared on more than 2500 different albums. Leland recorded electric bass on some of the most well-known hits from the past 5 decades, including Phil Collins’ “Sussudio“, James Taylor’s “How Sweet it is (to be loved by you)“, and Hall and Oates’ “Sara Smile“, to name just a few. To hear him rave about his own Mighty Bright lights was truly humbling.
Jeff Pevar also came by; a sought after session musician, guitarist, composer, producer, performer and multi-instrumentalist who has brought his unique style on stage and/or in the studio to such world renowned artists as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Ray Charles, James Taylor, Jimmy Webb, Kenny Loggins, Joe Cocker, Jefferson Starship, and many others. Jeff recently completed his first independent movie score, playing all the instruments for an independent movie called Walk-In, and is currently scoring music for John B Weller on his movie on the Ross Sea, “The Last Ocean”.
Next, we saw our friend Rolo Sandoval from “The Fab Four: The Best Beatles Tribute Band“, who told us they’ve been enjoying the Mighty Bright Orchestra Light during their live Fab Four Orchestra shows (watch the amazing video from their show below to see our lights in action). We’re working on Rolo to come in full Beatles garb next year and play us a few tunes for us. Come on, Rolo!
We also saw our good friend Tim Thompson, a Nashville-based session player, singer/songwriter and the 2008 International Fingerstyle Champion. Tim’s been touring the country with his son Myles, now 21, who plays the violin and mandolin. Tim has appeared with such artists as Tommy Emmanuel, Crystal Gayle, and Hwy 101. He’s recorded eleven CDs and two DVDs, and has been featured in several magazines including Taylor Guitar’s Wood and Steel, Just Jazz Guitar and Fingerstyle Guitar. As is to be expected, we also made some new friends this year, including Warren Walker, who uses Mighty Bright lights when he plays live with his band The Kandinsky Effect. When asked what type of music they played, he described it as: “Weaving Jazz & Post-Rock, Soundscapes & Electronica Into Tunes that Transcend Genre, Place, and Time”. See a sample for yourself via the “Coffee & Riffs” video below, OR catch them on their forthcoming American tour starting April 9th, and then throughout Europe starting May 5th.
Also adding to our batch of newly found artist friends is drummers Ricky Molina and Cachi Zazueta, who are carrying our products (along with their drum kits) near and far as they tour in the US and abroad.
